Negative keywords on AdWords account, but mispelling in customer query still triggers ad. Possible to avoid?

Ok, So this really p*#%d me off the other day.
I've built an extremely comprehensive list of Negative keywords for our trade bookbinding pages on Ad words.
Amongst 100's of others, I've also included every City, Town, Village, and County in the UK so our Ads don't get triggered by local search intent.
However, we're still getting clicks from searches like this one: **'binding services n worcestr' **
Question: If Google won't assume this is a misspelling of one of our Neg KW, how I can I possibly protect the account from this type of search?
Is this something we just have to accept having KW's on broad match mod/ phrase match?

I think you're right about starting with exact match and expanding outward in this case.
It's a pity because we have some other campaigns that do well from broad match, capturing a plethora of variations on similar KW queries. They vary rarely triggering wasted clicks.

Hi Issac,
If you are using broad match keyword then your search terms include misspellings, synonyms, related searches, and other relevant variations.
In case of negative keyword you have to add misspelled as negative keyword otherwise ads will triggers for misspelled search query.

I haven't been able to completely avoid this, and have not been able to find an exact answer to this question. However, I have been able to reduce the amount of non-relevant keywords from appearing. Here are some suggestions:
- Decrease the number of broad keywords used in your campaign.
- Use more phrase match and exact keywords.
- Monitor your campaign and do at least two weekly reviews and go through search terms and continue to mark more negative keywords.
Finally, I highly recommend that you start with only exact matches and then expand to phrase and broad as you identify your best keyword fits from viewing search terms.

Adword San Francisco Reach number
Hello, I have noticed in Adwords, when I select San Francisco or San Francisco county as a location for the campaign, it shows the reach as 7,220,000 Now I know that reach may be different from census data and depends largely on number of google signed-in users. But this number is waaay of. According to census there are only about 850,000 people in SF county, lets add as much that commute to SF for work, then we still have only 1,700,000 - not even close to 7,220,000 google is reporting. Also note that for the rest of the Bay Area counties the Adwords reach numbers match very closely census data. Any ideas?

Adding nyc to a keyword in Google Adwords
Hello. If I have a keyword in Google Adwords that is using phrase match ("keyword"), could it be useful to add the keyword phrase "keyword nyc"? Even if I did not add the second keyword phrase, my ad would be triggered if someone searched for "keyword nyc." So would it be redundant to add the second keyword phrase? Thank you!

Can I pass keyword match type through the Adwords dest URL?
Hi guys, I'm currently using duplicates of the same keyword with different match types, and I'd like to pass the keyword match type through the query, the same way I can pass the keyword and creative. ie. http://my.site.com/?kw={keyword}&kwmt={matchtype}&aid={creative} As far as I can tell, Google allows you to pass the keyword, creative (ad id), network and a mobile flag. Microsoft allows you to pass the match type and and ad id, and I want to be able to do the same in my Adwords. Is this is possible, or is the only way to create different ad groups for each match type and pass a custom query? Cheers, Jez

Proportion of traffic from adwords vs organic search
Hi People, I wanted to know if anyone knows what typical click through rates of paid vs organic search results are. We seem to be experiencing a very low click through rate with our organic search results versus our adwords and it seems to be getting worse. For example our website www.natureshop.co.uk ranks 4th for the search phrase "icebreaker" in google.co.uk (and we are the first online retailer). We are the first adwords listing as well. For the past 3 months we have had 867 clicks through our organic listing and yet with adwords we had 14,000 clicks. This seems pretty strange to me. Both have conversion rates of around 5%. Do you think these sorts of stats are becoming the norm for brand based searches? (icebreaker is a merino wool clothing brand). Adwords also says that there were around 125,000 impressions of this phrase in the search network for this period. Which means with a ranking of 4th our click through rate is less than 1%? If anyone else can share their experience or provide some commentary on this it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance Conrad Cranfield

Yellow Stars on Google Ads.

Google Ads not showing
Hello, I am having some trouble with my google adwords. I decided to split my existing campaign into two campaigns, one for customers in the UK and one for the rest of the world. The keywords are the same - only the message is different. i.e. Tractor Parts Free UK shipping on Tractor parts mysite.com/tractor-parts & Tractor Parts Fast shipping to Europe from the UK mysite.com/Tractor-Parts According to Google Adwords my UK campaign has had no impressions and no clicks. However if I search for one of the keywords it appears in the search results with the UK text. Anyone got any ideas?

PPC ad guidelines?
I learned Google PPC years ago and got certified by Google. Back then and for a long time since I know it was best practice to capitalize words in your domain name. I know Google no longer does this and that words in your domain name of your ad are now all lowercase. I hear recommendations and see them practice that adding keywords in a directory are a good way to still get capitalized words in your ad. When I learned PPC, I was told your display URL and your destination URL had to match. Now I'm seeing ads where that is not the case. If I have an ad that takes someone to my homepage of a coupon site, can I have a display URL that says: mysite.com/Coupons Even if the destination URL is just mysite.com ? I'm seeing conflicting things online and it's hard because I don't know what the current guidelines are after this change.
