Old links that need to be removed
-
We are having a problem trying to get rid of old links that have been removed from a website that no longer exists. See links below-There are several more that we need to deal with. We have tried putting them into Google Search Console, but they keep reappearing with Moz. Since our new website is hosted on Hubspot now and not on WordPress, which these links are referring to, we are trying to determine how to remove them from being indexed since they don't exist anymore?

Hey Bill, Dave here from the Help Team!
If you are finding these in Site Crawl, you can also find the referral link, which is where we found these 404 links. Using that referral link might help you track down where in the source code these links are being found if you wanted to remove them. Hopefully that helps to clarify!

Thanks Nigel.
I agree the 404 page needs some work, just in case people find there way there.
-
Thanks William. We figured we didn't need to create the 301's since we added them to Google search console. It's a good idea thought to update the 404 page.
Thanks.

Hi Bill
They don't appear in Google so I don't see you have a problem. They are 404'ing which is fine so just leave it.
I do agree with William though that your 404 doesn't have a menu but since no one is going to find these pages it's irrelevant in this case.

Hi, have you tried using permenent redirects to control the flow of traffic. Make sure and create a custom "page not found" 404 page. You can put a lot of great content on your custom 404 page that will help your website visitors.
Best Regards

Competitor getting External Links from search.aol.com
Recently, I noticed that one of the competitors I track within my Moz campaign received about 12 new inbound links. As a result, there DA jumped about 10 points. I reviewed these new external links and was surprised to see that they are all "search.aol.com/aol/search?query= ..." with Link Anchor Text that is good for the industry we compete in. Can anyone tell me why these are being counted as "Inbound Links". It just doesn't seem right. Is this some sort of black hat seo tactic?

How do you determine how much a link is worth?
Obviously things like Mozrank, domain authority, relevancy signals, authority signals, and other fundamentals are a great starting ground, but I was wondering how people put value on a links. How much time is a link from a page rank of x or a moz rank of y worth. How much time, money (not in terms of paid links, but in terms of manpower, copyrighting required, etc.) is a link of a certain rank worth. Obviously there is no exact answer to this question, but I'm very curious to see what people have to say in this regard.

Total number of outbound external links?
Hi Mozzers, Is anyone aware of a tool that will tell me how many outbound external links there are on my website? Basically, I have a theory that our website is littered with links to other websites, but need to know the approximate figure. As far as I can tell, none of the Moz tools tell me this? Any help appreciated! Cheers Matt

Why do crawlers still track meta keywords if it is not needed in my site?
I have crawled three sites already and it returns more than 5000 errors most of which are MIssing Meta Keywords tags. The sites are on Wordpress and using my SEO plugin I can easily edit the meta keywords of each page, but I am having second thoughts. Well should I?

To Many Links on site
I've had an issue with to many links on the site. My drop down menu, secondary footer and footer. The report told me that I had 253 links on each page. I then programmed my secondary footer to dynamic and ran a crawl and my links reduced accordingly to 201. Then turned the footer into dynamic and ran a crawl with my links increasing to 1500. This also happened between each phase but en went away. Oddly enough, my domain authority increased as well as other factors in the crawl report. This too many links thing is driving me crazy. Please provide some guidance.

I'm looking for good outbound link profiling tool...
Hello all, Just a brief question... does anybody know of a good link profiling tool which will give me a list of URLs that are linked to from a specific website? Essentially, I'm looking for the polar opposite of OpenSiteExplorer as I'm not interested in the inbound links, only the outbound links. Thanks, Elias

Do I need backlinks?
Hi, My theory is yes I do. But the problem I have is a small budget and competitors who have a big one. My problem is we have a small number of external links and linking root domains. My profile from a domain analysis read like this in March and then May... External Followed Links - Mar 103 | May 257
Moz Pro | | YNWA
Total External Links ------- Mar 114 | May 276 Total Links ------------------- Mar 5,577 | May 24,425 Followed Linking Root Domains - Mar 24 | May 47
Total Linking Root Domains ------- Mar 30 | May 55 As you can see, progrss is being made considering I do this part time for a family website. But what I need is a big bump in these numbers as my 3 compeitors are pulling in silly numbers such as 308, 7000 and 45000 external followed links. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to compete with this realisticy without spending a fortune? I am putting the time and effort in so anything you guys can do to help the better. I am using twitter and facebook quite a bit, and seen growth on Twitter go from 40 to 1,350 followers over 7 months. Visits to the site over 7 months have gone up 50% as well. However sales are still looking about 10-15% up on previous year. I need more links coming into the site don't I? And what is the most important part of the Domain Analysis, what shoudl I want to increase first and foremost? Any ideas? Cheers Will0 -
Opensiteexplorer hangs at 1051 links...
...and won't complete the download. I have been extremely patient, but it's stuck there no matter how many times I try or long I wait. Ideas?
