Distributing of Viral Content
-
Hi, have a question on the distribution of content.
Let say you have written awesome content, with great visuals, etc which is designed to go viral. Your site is relatively new - not many social media followers, DA authority, or natural traffic.
What would be a good process of distributing that content - getting the content out there so it has the best chance and ability to go viral and generate links.
So far i have:
-
Use press releases to distribute that content, using a distribution service like: prnewswire.com. Hope its picked up by a news site or something.
-
Contact Facebook Pages or Twitter Pages who have a large audience of the type of people who would be interested in the content. Ask them if they can share the content.
-
Content sites related to the content, and ask them to share it with their users (Give them a incentive e.g. money, a gift, etc)
I think number 1 would yield the best possible results in getting actual sites linking to you.
2 and 3 are more designed for people (who very few would have blogs) to read the content.
Any other suggestions, i'm missing out on?
Thanks,
Matt

If your looking for a ways of getting your content out you can find some good ideas here - http://www.seomoz.org/ugc/how-to-push-an-infographic (i wrote it so slightly biased)
but It really depends on what the content is and how good it is - try paying for some stumbles its a good way to see how people like it

Yes,
PR's are a solid way to kick out a new site.
As to what I believe you are missing out on.... well let's just say that this site has about 109,000 pages indexed with Google. I would start on #1.
Another thing you may be missing, unless your target market is people who own blogs, eg. blog owners are your customers / users / people who pay you, then you skipped your customers over in the hunt for links that have the goal of finding those customers.
I would suggest focusing on your target market. Filling a need for them and building links through the process of spreading your message to the people who will want it.
(Don't message a social media giant and ask them to share your content, like the other 1500 who ask that of them today, you will not get looked at twice.)
Here is the strategy
-
Listen
-
Learn
-
Create content from 1 & 2
-
Engage the fan base you picked up while listening and learning
-
Repeat 1-4 300 to 2500 times until you really get it
-
A solid well planned content strategy is like a strong business plan. Getting your content to go viral is like playing the lottery. Plan, learn and improve all the time while focusing on your customers and their needs. (It takes some of the glory out but it puts the money in)

Will posting an article from my website to LinkedIn mean its duplicate content?
Hi everyone, I'm currently writing my first blog post for my new business, and initially it was intended to be written for my website and then have it shared as a link via Social Media. However, I notice now that LinkedIn allow you to post self written articles to it's website directly and that these are then linked to your profile. My question is if I write my blog post as intended, and then publish it separately to LinkedIn, will search engines see this and think I am duplicating content? If so, roughly how much of the content would I have to change in order to avoid this? Thanks!

Facebook: reaching audience who have liked / shared my content
Hi, I am new to social, so the question might be a bit beginner. If I put a like / share / recommend button on my site, or maybe a comment box, how can I reach audiences at a later time, who have interacted with my plugins (liked/shared/commented)? Paid ads would be one solution, but for now I am interested in organic (free) targeting. So if people who share my content do not become fans at the same time, how can I engage them in new updates about my page? Thanks for thoughts.

Should I be worried about a duplicate content issues between LinkedIn and my blog posts?
I sometimes take my original LinkedIn post and repost it to my blog. Since Google indexes LinkedIn posts, is there any need to worry about duplicate content issues? Or will Google recognize the common author/ownership?

Blog posts copied to Facebook or Linked? Any Duplicate Content Issues?
I wasnt able to find any good answers on this. I have two separate ecommerce websites, one with a top level blog. (www.xyz.com/blog) and different website with a subdomain blog (blog.xyz.com)***note on the subdomain blog, although it links to our website. You cannot directly shop from it. Until i can make some sort of scraper, its what I have to work with. For quite some time now I have been copying the blog posts and re-creating them on facebook as a Note. Using the same anchor text/links on facebook as my blog post. Part of the issue is that I want the facebook pages to have some content and not just links. Both get 2-3 updates per week, 1 of those being a blog re-post. Does anyone know if google or bing considers this duplicate content? Should I simply link directly to the blog everytime, as a best practice? Any insight on this would be great. Thanks!

Adult dating site. How can I get people to share content on facebook or google plus..
I am working on http://www.top-10-dating-reviews.com an adult dating review website. I want to build a presence on social networks so have set up twitter, google plus, and a facebook page. As I understand it retweets, like, shares etc... Play a significant part in seo. Therefore I want to get as many shares etc as possible. My initial idea was to create a fan page on facebook and pay to promote it on facebook gaining likes on the fan page. Will likes on the fan page impact the main site? I would imagine not? However I can see how someone visiting the main site and liking a post would have a positive effect on rankings. The problem I've come into is facebook won't run the ads as the page is adult so they won't accept paid ads. If I add a post to the facebook page how can I get it in front of people to share or like it? Equally how can I get google plus shares? I'm new to social and am unsure of how I should proceed? Especially as facebook considers the page adult. Finally how important is social. I've read it can get short term wins and optimised posts can appear at the top of search results but don't stay there long. Link building is still the long term strategy?

I'd like some thoughts on content I'm considering producing for my discount drug card business...
I'm fairly new to SEO, but I'm trying to learn. I have a discount prescription drug card business and while it's quite new (the website was created in January) I'm not very satisfied with the traffic I'm receiving...that's putting it mildly. I'm contemplating different methods I might be able to exercise in order for my website to show value....to my potential visitors and search engines. First, while I do have a blog I find it extremely difficult to offer well-written material on prescription drugs and what not....while it is my intention to offer a good product and service it's a subject that I don't have enough experience on to write intelligent posts. I'm just not in a position to hire a writer. Essentially I have two thoughts....one, trying to find a doctor, a pharmacist or a pharmacy school whereby I could professionally videotape a presenter talking about various prescription drugs, kind of like a glossary. Which prescriptions are used to treat various ailments, etc... The 2nd idea is a little disconnected to the business of prescription drugs, but along the lines of saving money and being financially sound. In this example I would tape 30 second pieces where a financial consultant might give different lessons about ways to save money or be financially prudent. For someone looking to save money on prescription drugs...this could be very useful information. My reasoning with both of these is providing original material that could make my site more authoritative and provide rich content. Videotaping these would be a good option for me because that's my primary business. I appreciate your patience and feedback. Any other ideas or input would be most welcome! Thank you.
