Identify business pain points using SEO
-
Hi, can I use SEO research techniques to identify what kind of services businesses are searching for? Is it possible to find out pain points? I have been using tool like MicroNicheFinder to do such a research but I am not getting any where. Is SEO only used to outrank my competition? Do I need to first know what business I need to be in and then use SEO techniques to research the demand? Do I make sense? You can tell that I am very new at the internet marketing thing.
Please let me know.
Thanks.

Hi Zulfiqar,
While I don't know the tool you've been using to conduct some research I know that SEO could be a really valuable way of doing market research. This is one of the few industries where the (search) volumes are just largely published on the web and included in many tools. So you could use that as a basis for your research to see where the demand is to start your services.
I wouldn't say that SEO isn't only used to outrank your competition, it probably will never happen that you're able to outrank your competitors on all the keywords in your niche / business as Google is so different for every person and/ or every search.
Hope this helps!

Hi Zulfiqar
In your other question you were asking about how to rank highly for a specific term. Yes, I would highly recommend at this stage you look at having a clear idea of what business you want to be in as you have suggested and a business that would interest you. Also, where you can bring expertise.
It's easy to get sucked into using different tools and techniques with SEO, but the bottom line is about having a strategy, one that looks at your business and what you have to offer and about the type of customers you want to be able to reach with your business. Search engines are really the glue in the middle that connects your business with them and them with you.
I hope that helps,
Peter

Url-delimiter vs. SEO
Hi all, Our customer is building a new homepage. Therefore, they use pages, which are generated out of a special module. Like a blog-page out of the blog-module (not only for blogs, also for lightboxes). For that, the programmer is using an url-delimiter for his url-parsing. The url-delimiter is for example a /b/ or /s/. The url would look like this: www.test.ch/de/blog/b/an-article www.test.ch/de/s/management-coaching Does the url-delimiter (/b/ or /s/ in the url) have a negative influence on SEO? Should we remove the /b/ or /s/ for a better seo-performance Thank you in advance for your feedback. Greetings. Samuel

WIX - problem with On-Page Optimization picking up SEO
Hi, I'm new to here so please be gentle!
Moz Pro | | sportinglists
I have a WIX site and had it for a few months. I have m own domain sportinglists.com and I am using MOZ to improve the SEO. Having read a few things it seems that I may struggle, given that I have a WIX site. I am playing around with a certain page, that will most likely be the most popular one on the site (fingers crossed), however when I run On-Page Optimization it fails to pick up the following things that I know I have added to the page; H1 (page title) - I added through the text options
Body text - I added paragraph text and
Image Alt - put in through the settings Is this because that it is made in WIX that this won't be picked up or is more likely my incompetency? Thanks0 -
SEO impact of redirecting high ranking mirror site to the main website
During SEO audit for a client I noticed that they had over a dozen duplicate websites that are carbon copies of the main website. This was done via CMS platform and DNS. One of the mirror sites has about 400 indexed pages and has Moz DA of 42 and 137k External Equity-Passing Links. Full metrics comparison is attached. I originally planned on doing rel="canonical" on the mirror site but the CMS vendor never even heard of it and is refusing to implement it in the header. My only other option is doing one to one 301 redirects. Since the mirror site ranks well, even competes with main domain for some positions on the 1st page of SERP, what will be the impact after the redirects? Is doing 301's still the best option? Thanks! How to add a Google+ business page to the social analytics?
Since my Google+ account is attached to my business page, MOZ is tracking the actual user page. I want to track the business page. It won't let me add another user. How do I fix this? Thanks.

New on SEO Moz and need help regarding panda recover.
Hello Dear Members, I am a new member to not only seomoz but to the SEO World as well. I was learning and implementing SEO from the last 5,6 months and got my website on Google.com page 1. I was quite happy with all the results. I recently got adsense approved on my site and was quite happy with the earnings as well. Unfortunately the most recent Panda update has effected most of my SEO efforts I was doing from the last 5,6 months. My rankings are effected a lot and same with my earnings from adsense. My rankings are effected in this manner. A couple of keywords that were in top 3 spots (1st page Google.com) are now at 7,8 (1st page Google.com) position. There are 3,4 pages that were previously on 5,6 spot (1st page Google.com) are now on 15, 16 spot (2nd page Google.com). Now I want to ask what tools from seomoz can help me to regain my lost positions in Google? Secondly what type of strategy (backlinks) can help me to regain the lost rankings? Best Regards Sam

Hey from a New guy to SEO
Hi everybody!!! Hope everybody is dandy. Have spent a long time looking into SEOmoz and decided to just take the plunge and see what happens. Im quite new to the world of SEO but I really want to get good at it. Hoping Moz and this community will aid with this! Currently in the process of reading the SEO beginners guide and the SEOmoz user guide! The two sites that I am currently working on are: 1. www.advanced-incar.co.uk 2. www.advanced-incarcamerasystems.com The first site seems to have crawled well and have entered my competitors and am getting some info back (looks like I have a lot of work to do judging by the errors D'oh) In the world of Google what is the best way to ensure you have authority on certain terms. For instance if I search advanced-incar we are top and we have all our sitelinks underneath etc etc, but when I search advanced incar we are second and as such we don't display sitelinks. Any ideas? The second site was built using 1&1 and gives us a good little site for what we need. I have found out through research the most popular keywords are in car camera & in car cameras. Currently Im using Adwords to get us sponsored hits which is getting us some nice traffic but costing a bit. Those are the two main keywords i want this site to really hit home with. Any advice? Also on this site, when I go to SEOmoz and select Link Analysis I get no info. It just shows 0 or 0.0 wheras my competitor sites all have values against them. Is something wrong with my site or what im doing? (Have added an example screenshot) I appreciate its a long ended question but would really appreciate some help. Hoping that the guides will help me understand all this linkjuice stuff etc as well! Thanks guys, really appreciative of any info you can provide. How do you use mozMetrics
How does everyone use the mozMetrics (mozRank, mozTrust, Domain Authority, Page Authority) with their clients? Do they ask you what these metrics mean and if so how do you explain it to them?
