Social Bookmarking is it spammy?
-
is social book marking seen as spammy ? And if it helps SEO how can you weed out the good sites from the bad?
-
As Silkstream says, the practice itself isn't spammy but it has been thoroughly abused by "SEOs" in the past to the extent that it should be done with care and for non-SEO purposes only. Firstly, it's not really likely to help your SEO anymore. Most of the links you will gain will be nofollowed, and while there is some reason to believe that a LOT of high quality nofollow activity (like you might get from a very successful viral campaign) is a good signal, it's not technically an important metric for SEO and shouldn't be treated as such. You should be bookmarking where it would make sense to share / save content for other marketing purposes, with SEO taking a very far back seat as a reason why.

Thank you for your answer, I am starting to embrace Social Bookmarking, I have had a look at Biz Sugar it looks pretty good to me.

The practice in itself isn't spammy. Its a great way to get further exposure if you are using the right sites.
Check out "Biz Sugar" - theres a pumpin' community over there.
How do you know if a site is spam or not? If your bookmarks are sending you referrals that spend a good amount of time on site then you're on to a winner!

Social Media Sharebar for wordpress
I'm looking to get hold of a really good social media share bar for a Wordpress website so that blog posts can be easily liked and shared. Any plugins to achieve this would be appreciated. Ideally, something like the floating social share bar that Social Media Examiner has would be great: http://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/social-media-roi-tips/#more-56153

How To Remove Fake Social Media Likes
Hi there Mozzers, Unfortunately I used a black hat seo company for my website at http://greatedmontonhomes.ca in the past. Over the last while I've been able to clean up quite a few of the bad links going to the site, but the company also engaged in buying fake Facebook likes and Tweets. Is there any way to clean these up? Guy

Are Social Links on Home Page Good for SEO
Hi, I have removed the Facebook, twitter, LinkedIn and G+ links from the top of our home page so as to try and stop users leaving the page. Is this bad for SEO? Thanks

Monitor Social Traffic
SocialAppsHQ has revised their pricing plans. https://www.socialappshq.com/home/pricing?utm_medium=email&utm_source=pricechange We have been using both their Apps and Social Monitoring. The Apps has worked pretty well for us and the revised pricing will actually be cheaper for us, so I'll likely continue with that feature. As for the Social Monitoring, perhaps I'm not using it effectively, but I get notice of social traffic too late to be really useful. To help generate viral lift in Twitter, for example, I need to be notified within an hour or so that someone has mentioned our product. If I am notified eight hours after the original tweet, then many on the east coast are already asleep and I can't retweet effectively until the next day, and it looses impact when the discussion is cold. Also, the revised pricing makes this feature much more expensive for us. What services can you recommend that will give us rapid notification of search phrases on FB and Twitter? Best,

What Happens To Social Media Love After A 301?
Say you have a WordPress site with a number of posts that have all been given lots of tweets, G+, FB likes and other social media love, and say you are showing that using a social media plugin on each post that shows the counts of all of these. If you 301 redirect the pages to another site, will the social media love counts follow, or will the page on the new site have to start again as far as social media is concerned? QhqeL

Social Media Campaigns
Hey SEOmoz Community, I have a couple questions about social media campaigns. Which KPIs do you use for social media campaigns? How do you determine realistic campaign goals? I am looking at projecting the number of followers/fans and the amount of traffic a site can expect to see as a result of this growth. Any suggestions. Thanks! Geoff
