What is the best way to become a published writer / blogger for bigger industry sites?
-
I'm a younger SEO manager and wanted to started establishing my name throughout the industry through well written blogs, expert articles, and any advice that is needed. I know a lot of answers will be to start my own blog and establish that and I'll get noticed, but is there a good way to make the first contact with industry sites to get an article or blog post published to their site? Or is it a pretty tight "gotta know someone" inner circle?

We found Geraldine's presentation very inspiring. We're glad you are enjoying it just as much as we did!

SEO? That is very ambitious.
Consider beginning here in Moz Q&A. Give generous answers to as many questions as you can. Set it as a goal to check here daily and answer any questions to which you can give confident and accurate and praiseworthy advice. This should earn you thumbs-up from appreciative people, maybe they will rate your response as a "good answer", maybe Moz staff will endorse your answer.
Your ability to earn these feedbacks will be a measure of your ability to write useful and appreciated information about SEO. It is much easier to write answers here than it is to write articles. But this will be practice and a way to accumulate a bank of content that can serve as the basis of articles. It will be a way to develop a strong voice. After you have answered the same question ten times here you will be much better qualified to write an article about it. You will see what gets challenged, and what earns positive feedback.
Furthermore, keeping your eye on forums will alert you to new problems and opportunities in SEO. It is a way to discover what is important to webmasters and the people who consult for them. Forums like Moz Q&A is where people go when they see a problem. When questions appear here frequently and repeatedly they are important, and your participation here will give you a gauge of those topics.
That will guide you to the content that people want to hear more about. This will keep you focus your writing time on important topics that will increase your value as an author.
When you don't know the answer to a question, subscribe to get email updates for that question. You will then be able to see good responses from other people who know about that topic. This will increase your knowledge and help you discover who has expertise in areas where you do not. These are the people who can help you. They will see your good work and when you ask a question you will receive generously given gold.
Try it for a month and see how it goes.

Targeting the SEO industry, which I know is going to be difficult since most blog posts are just regurgitated material anyway. And everyone in the SEO industry will agree but disagree with it.
-
One question.....
What industry are you targeting? SEO? Banking? Shoe Shining? Cosmetic Surgery?
Advice will vary depending upon target audience.

An easy was to establish a relationship with the website is to follow them through social channels (specifically Twitter) and engage (if possible) on their website through comments. If you can add value to a blog post with your comments you might begin to be recognized. If you do this in addition to starting your own blog, someone might click on your profile and find all the killer content you've been pumping out!
If you are considering starting a blog this post below is a great resource:

Hope that helps

I can get hundreds of natural links from real estate agent sites, but should I?
I have a website that generate leads for real estate agents nationwide. I have an auto email that sends out the referral agreement and in the email I ask them to place a link to our website on their site somewhere to be a part of the program. I can get as many as 10-15 links in a few hours in every major city in the U.S. Most realtor websites have websites that are new, or haven't posted blogs and have a Moz domain score of 1 and trust score of 1. I have been thinking of only selecting websites with descent Moz rankings instead of having all agents link to me, even ones with a low moz score. Is it a bad idea to get a bunch of links from legitimate websites that have low Moz scores?

Google Site Warnings via Phone?
I received a voicemail earlier stating that "there are two issues with your company's current Google listing that we need to discuss with the business owner. it is very important that we talk as soon as possible. press 1 to speak with an agent immediately. press 8 if you have already verified your account information or if you are no longer in business and want to be removed from this list. thank you" that's it. no contact number, no reference to what listing or what type of listing (organic, places, etc.) Checked GWT, GA, and the Gmail - there are no warnings or messages in any of those accounts. Has anyone else experienced this?

Both urls show the same page and therefor duplicate content. Should i 301 www.example.com to www.example.com/nl ?

Sitelinks Disappeard For My Site
Hi Guys I noticed that all the sitelinks for my site has disappeared. Could it be because of recent changes that I made to the site or maybe because I submitted a new sitemap for my site? Should I ask the googlebot to fetch my site now again after I submitted my sitemap and also ask to re-index it? I also read somewhere else that Google could be re-indexing my site and thus still needs to determine what my sitelinks is going to be. If somebody could please give me some advice on this I would appreciate it. Thanks Dave

SEO hosting (EU/Spanish IP's) any1?
Hello all, I'm currently trying to find a great hosting company which can offer a fast and stable service and more important, with the possibility of geolocalizing IP's of Europe and concretely for Spain. I've found Ixwebhosting but they only offer US Ip's, as their datacenters are there. I don't know if it's the same thing outside spain, but here the hosting companies only use to have a single "C-class" range so even buying them different IP's doesn't help that much, and it isn't cheap (2€/month/ip...). So if you know someone offering what I'm looking for (or really close to it) drop a line, I'll appreciate your help! 🙂

How does recent Google update affect e-commerce sites:
Most ecommerce sites use the original manufacturer product descriptions in their content. The product features and specifications are the content made by the manufacturer. Sometimes manufacturers insist that the ecommerce sites should use their original content and it is impossible to change what available in the original content and rewrite it.
