Does Lack of CTR Reduce Organic Impressions
-
I have a business model that works off Impressions and not CTR.
Obviously impressions on a search engine normally lead to CTR and the landing page does the conversion. But what if I can convert a sale directly on the search engine results page without the client clicking the actual search result. Therefore the CTR is heavily reduced.
Does a reduced CTR effect your rank on the search results?
I know that in PPC the CTR is an important factor for relevancy, thus reducing your PPC costs. Result is you pay more per click to get position 1-3.
But does it matter for organic results ?
I am currently testing the model and do have pages in rank 1-3 that generate approximately 3 times the number of conversion to the CTR (unique sales).
I would also like to know if there is a way to measure the numbr of Impressions a page gets with their search rank, webmaster tools does have it but it seems to be a rounded to the nearest 10,000 figure.
All contributions on this welcome, Thank You.

The most honest answer is that we simply don't know.
There is some speculation that CTR and/or bounce-back rates and search refinement rates factor into the rankings. No one has proved either, but both seem to make sense.
If I were Google, I would use CTR as one factor among many, but only judge against results for similar positions in similar results. For example, the CTR on simple questions is likely to be low across the board, so I wouldn't hold that against someone.
With all of that said, I am currently responsible for a number of sites that actively try to convert people directly from SERPs. We haven't noticed any downside to it because we satisfy their query when they do click with more information and they don't click on other results either. As I said, it makes sense. Google would compare apples to apples if they had any sense.

They compare your stats with other sites and if your site is getting less ctr i can see that hurting you
-
but without CTR you get no bounce rate, would that not cancel it out ?
-
It is believed that bounce rate and ctr do play as ranking factors - how much is yet to be determined

How ppc affects organic and direct convesions and traffic.
Hi, I was wondering what percentage of organic conversions is related to ppc previous traffic. I mean, when we evaluate the results of a campaign, we take a look at the cost per conversion in analytics for one specific word. Lets say that we know that for PPC campaigns we have the following data Adwords / PPC Visits: 4500 %conversions rate = 1,15% Cost per conversion = $10 ORGANIC Visits: 1300 % conversions rate = 2,10% DIRECT Visitis: 1000 %conversions rate= 2,54% It is obvious that if I cancel the adwords campaign part of the organic and direct traffic will drop too. So, I was wondering if have you ever done this calculation and if you know what percentage of the organic a direct traffic is related with de ppc campaigns. I mean... Let's say... "20% of the ppc traffic will come back to the website as organic traffic or direct traffic", or something like that... Anyone??? Thanks 😄

What is the best way to reduce bounce rate from Pinterest Traffic?
Hi, Our bounce rate is very high on incoming traffic from Pinterest. What can we do to redirect the traffic to more than single product page and/or convert them to sign up for newsletter, etc? Anyone know if there is an average bounce rate from Pinterest traffic? Thanks.

How to find average organic traffic growth rate for ecommerce startup?
Happy Friday Everyone, I have a quick question: I am in the process of crunching some numbers to try and figure out an organic traffic forecast for a client. One of the crucial metrics I can't seem to figure out is traffic rate of growth over the next year or so. The reason this is complicated for me is that I have only ever done this sort of thing for an established business before, and had plenty of past organic traffic data to work with. What I am looking for is a source that could give me a reasonable idea of what kind of growth rates I might expect for a startup with practically no data; I would be perfectly happy with a national average for online retail startups. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Need help Tracking PPC vs Organic and respective ROI
So I have a client who uses PPC and Organic SEO to drive traffic. Once a user gets to the site, the most common action is to fill out a form. I have Auto Tagging enabled in Adwords so all PPC clicks have "gclid" in the url. I am also grabbing the Google Cookie and parsing it out to determine if the visitor is PPC or Organic. So I have an if statement in my form code to pass PPC vs organic through the form for tracking purposes: $url = 'http://' . $_SERVER['SERVER_NAME'] . $_SERVER['REQUEST_URI']; if (false !== strpos($url,'gclid')) { ?> Essentially this is saying: If gclid is in the url, or if the cookie contains PPC

Re-designed website... how to increase organic traffic?
We re-developed our website (adboards(dot)com) around 6 months ago. This has in turn led to a downturn in sales/visits. We have managed to get visits/sales increasing steadily but not to the level of the previous site. Even though we believe the new site is (seems) much more friendly both for SEO and potential customers. We currently run a PPC campaign which seems to bring in steady sales, the problem seems to be our organic traffic and getting our keywords ranked higher. We have tried various methods for increasing our organic traffic including:- Keyword Analysis for our landing pages Backlinking: From various directories and industry related sites Googlebase submission Blog relating to industry news & products Any advise on which area we should be focusing on or any obvious errors you can see on the site would be greatly appreciated.
